13-15 Prep League

In an effort to encourage more participation in the game of baseball, the International Board of Babe Ruth League, Inc. approved at the beginning of the 1976 season the introduction of the Babe Ruth Baseball Prep League.

Under the Prep League rules, the team rosters must be composed of all 13-15 year-old players and shall consist of no less than 12 players and no more than 15 players. In order for the Prep League to be accepted by Headquarters, the local parent program must be a chartered Babe Ruth 13-15 League.

Studies have shown that many young players lose interest in the game of baseball when they do not get ample playing time in games once selected for an organized team. This is played on the standard 90-foot diamond.

With the Babe Ruth Baseball Prep League, the 13-15 year-old player now has that chance to play, avoiding the possibility of his losing interest in playing baseball.

Please make sure your player is using a legal bat. Please use the bat list at: http://www.baberuthleague.org/ to ensure you have a legal bat.

All players will play on both offense and defense. Pitchers can only pitch 3 innings per game. This forces coaches to develop more pitching talent as well as give other players a chance to pitch. Players play on a regular 90' base field for this level.

At the end of the regular season, all prep teams will play against each other in a park tournament to determine a league champion. All players receive an award at closing ceremonies.

An all-star team will be made up of the best players from each of the teams and will have the opportunity to compete and represent our park at the district, state and regional tournaments.
